The purpose of our second project was to learn how to make gifs. I decided to create a gif with aspects of retro skiing magazines. I took the woman from an old ski magazine and found a fun sun as well. I knew I didn’t want to do what was expected and find a mountain, so instead I looked at pictures of clouds. I wanted to represent the idea of skiing on clouds. Below was my first idea, I wanted to create something retro, taking collages of someone from an old magazine.
I didn’t love any of the three sketches I started with, but this was the one I liked the most. I then went and researched more retro ski magazines to get inspired. I found the one with the lady in the still below. From here, I knew I wanted her skiing but not on snow, I debated water, but ended up landing on a cloud. This is when I got my idea for a ski resort in the clouds.
